connecting…
You bleed every day now, and still, whatever wounds they open in you, you remain the warmest place I know, for me, and for thousands of others.
I carry a fierce, quiet pride that I was born in you, that I grew up beneath your sky.
And to those who hold you together — who rebuild you stone by stone and keep you warm through the longest nights; who stay, and make an ordinary life out of a danger that never leaves; who defend you, whatever it costs them — you are the reason the word home still means what it means.
My deepest wish is a simple one: that one day the sky goes quiet, and you come to know peace again.
